California – The Land of the Fruits and Nuts

Another California Gubernatorial Race – Another Gloria Allred Stunt
Ya’ gotta love California politics. It brings out all of our favorite crazies – like Gloria Allred.

Remember back in 2003 when Arnold Schwarzenegger was running for governor? Gloria represented stunt woman, Rhonda Miller who accused Arnold of sexual harassment that took place in 1991 on the set of Terminator 2. Funny, she waited 12 years to make the allegation and never proceeded to litigation. Hmmm.

Gloria’s latest client is Nicky Diaz, who worked as a part-time housekeeper for Meg Whitman. The poor thing only got $23 per hour and had to endure such mistreatment for nine long years.

Gloria says she has a copy of a letter from Social Security Administration to the Whitman family alerting them that the Social Security number the family provided for their housekeeper, Nicandra Diaz Santillan, did not match government records.

I find this extremely difficult to believe for one reason: the Whitmans’ were not Nicky’s employer – the agency was.

I have owned an employment agency and I was the employer. I paid the taxes, I filed tax reports, I carried the workers comp insurance and I had the responsibility for hiring legal citizens.

Social Security wouldn’t send anything to any client because the agency is the employer of record. They wouldn’t have the name or address of any client.

I saw the letter that is supposed to be the smoking gun. First of all, why would the SSA office in Wilkes-Barre PA contact the Whitmans in California? Whenever I did business with SSA, it was local.

Also, I don’t understand how they got the Whitman’s information – unless Nicky filed a disability claim and INCORRECTLY put the name of the Whitmans instead of the agency. This happened to me one time and the client was livid because they were using an agency so they wouldn’t have to carry liability or workers comp insurance. Where is the agency in all this?

The whole thing stinks to high heaven.
