White House Party Crashers Were Filming A Reality Television Show
Barack Obama has had more security protection than any other president or presidential candidate. He began receiving Secret Service protection in 2007 – earlier than any other candidate.
Since Mr Obama took office, the rate of threats against the president has increased 400% from the 3,000 a year or so under President George W. Bush, according to Ronald Kessler, author of In the President’s Secret Service. That works out to be 1,200,000 per year.
For his inauguration in January, the Secret Service coordinated more than 40,000 agents and officers from some 94 police, military and security agencies.
More than a dozen counter-sniper teams were stationed along the inauguration parade route and the criminal records of employees and hotel guests in nearby buildings were scrutinized.
Despite all this, there were glaring loopholes in the security. Kessler describes how more than 100 VIPs and major campaign donors were screened by metal detectors but then walked along a public pavement before boarding “secure” buses and were not checked again. It could have been relatively simple for an assassin to have mingled with them in order to get close enough to shoot the new president.
Enter Michaele and Tareq Salahi
The Bravo television network, which airs the “Real Housewives” series, confirmed Thursday that Michaele and Tareq Salahi were being followed by cameras, according to a network spokesperson.
A spokesperson for Bravo told POLITICO that Michaele Salahi is “under consideration” for a role on the show and that Half Yard Productions, which produces the series, filmed the couple “on that day as they prepared for the event.”
“The Half Yard crew were not on White House grounds,” a Bravo official said. “They filmed them traveling there and were done once cars reached the security checkpoint.”
“The Salahis informed Half Yard that they were invited and the producers had no reason to believe otherwise,” the spokesperson said in an e-mail, confirming an earlier report by the New York Times.
Michaele Salahi is rumored to be one of the featured housewives on Bravo’s upcoming The Real Housewives of DC and sources say cameramen for the show followed the couple to the White House.
Michaele Salahi is a former model and Washington Redskins cheerleader. The Salahis are the co-chairs of America’s Polo Cup and been involved in numerous controversies over the years including running a bogus charity – Journey for the Cure, The American Task Force on Palestine, United States Parachute Association, numerous fights with their neighbors, a bitter and protracted legal battle for control of the bankrupt family winery, and failure to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars in bills for gala events for their ‘charities.’
From Michaele Salahi’s FaceBook site:
I was honored to be invited to attend the First State Dinner hosted by President Obama & the First Lady to honor India. In June 2010, the America’s Polo Cup will be between INDIA & the UNITED STATES. Please join me in this cultural celebration of politics, diplomacy, fashion, sports, entertainment & family fun.
Since they are facing criminal charges, Bravo TV might want to follow the Salahis through their court appearance and possible prison terms.
